Work In Progress Interview

I was tagged by Clover Autrey to do these interview questions, and then to tag some authors following that.

Ten Interview Questions:

What is your working title of your book?

Island Of Regrets

Where did the idea come from for the book?

It came from noticing that sometimes after a bad end to a relationship - the two separate and don't make amends.  I wanted to explore how that could be different.

What genre does your book fall under?

Romance - but I don't think it fits typical Romance (such as Harlequin) story.  I'll get some feedback from some friends who are true Romance writers and readers.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

This is pretty easy, I only have 2 people in the book.  I would have Matthew McConaughey play the male lead.  I could see Ginnifer Goodwin for the female lead, but she would need to work on not having a Southern accent (and it wouldn't hurt if she could speak French)

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

If you didn't have the choice to make amends with someone from your past, could you?

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Right now it will most likely be self published.  If I get a representative before it comes out, that changes things a bit.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I am still working on it.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I honestly don't know.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

My personal need to chase my own ghosts inside my head.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

This story is about two people who had a relationship that ended badly.  They find themselves stranded on an island and they are the only two people there.  They have to survive, and they have to face their pasts.  This book represents the most emotion I have ever attempted to write.  I won't let it go to publishing until I feel satisfied I have achieved the emotional goals I want in the story.

  1. An Interesting interview Lee. Chasing ghosts inside your own head.....this really resonates with me. Surely this is the best reason ever to write a book.
This week I'm writing about the ghosts that have dogged me for so many years and have driven me to write
One Hour To Midnight my WIP that I finished during NaNoWriMo.
Your book premise intrigues me....how often in life do relationships end without any form of closure? What damage does that do to people? The possibilities are endless.
